Despite a wave of backlash calling for its cancellation, it looks like TLC’s Unexpected is coming back for another season.
Season 8 of the reality series was seemingly confirmed after show alum Jenna Ronanshared casting details on her Instagram last week, revealing that producers are actively searching for new participants.
“This is sad,” one commented, while another stated, “This show should already be cancelled.”
Another claimed, “nah the entire point of the show was to scare of teens getting pregnant, now theyre just getting pregnant to get onto Tv 🤦🏻♀️ TAKE THIS SHOW DOWWWN.”
Others called out Ronan directly. “I’m sorry didn’t you make a video a couple weeks ago saying this show exploited you?,” one asked.
Another wrote, “Didn’t you say this show exploited you.”
This comes after a recent preview clip from Season 7 went viral a few weeks ago for all the wrong reasons, showing 15-year-old cast member Bella Vaughn casually telling her mother that she and her 13-year-old boyfriendHunter Johnson
“This is super disturbing,” one commented. Another added, “I would ball my eyes out to hear this from my daughter.”
The clip struck a nerve precisely because of how casual the conversation felt, which, for many longtime viewers, crossed a line the show had been toeing for years.
