The TLC network jumped in on the cash cow that is teenage pregnancy with the hit reality series Unexpected in 2017. We are now in season five of the show, after season four and season three left us with some cliffhangers, and while some cast members are sure to return, many are not. Thus far, Shayden Massey, Mykayla Adkins, Lilly Bennett, Rilah Ferrer, Chloe Mendoza, and other series stars have confirmed that they are ready to move on with their lives.
There are no more cameras filming intense arguments with partners and families or trials and tribulations of entering parenthood prematurely for many of the former reality stars, but that doesn’t mean that they are lying low and doing nothing. Here is what some of our favorite past and present Unexpected cast ladies and gents are up to these days.
10Lilly Bennett Is Now A Mother Of Two
We met Lilly in season one of the series and her storyline was a common one; just look at the MTV laundry list of teen-parent breakups and controversies. The sweet-natured and naive teenager could not wait to welcome her baby into the world with her boyfriend, James.
Lilly and James broke up after their daughter Aaliyah was born, but it seemed that having one child before adulthood wasn’t enough for the reality star. She and her boyfriend of a few years, a fellow named Lawrence, brought a son named LJ into the world. Good luck to these parents of two!
9How Many Kids Does Shayden Massey Have?
Shayden and one of the show’s breakout star’s Lexus had one of the more tumultuous storylines in the series. They had some highs and serious lows, always breaking up and getting back together. It seemed like this couple, while clearly needing to grow up and sort things out, had a genuine love for one another under the surface, though.
Sometimes love just isn’t enough, however. Shayden ran into some legal issues, Lexus might have been unfaithful, and Shayden moved on with his love life. He has been in a few relationships since leaving the show, and is now expecting his third child. Each baby has been with a different baby mama, and his current girlfriend announced her pregnancy in early August.
8Matthew Blevins Is Denying His Second Child
It was a serious series shock to then learn that Matthew got “Hailey Number Two” pregnant as well! Matthew Blevins is reportedly not returning to the small screen, and these days he is more confused than ever as to who his children are. He claims his baby with Hailey One but denies his son with Hailey Two. Messy.
7Rilah Ferrer’s Baby Daddy Is Considering Legal Action
We don’t think anyone was sad to learn that Rilah and Anthony decided to break up. Our confidence in their ability to “adult” together was called into question from the jump. Rilah has been doing the single mother thing, but Anthony is not having it.
Caelan and ex-girlfriend McKayla Adkins have two children together and a lot of toxic history between them. Watching them try to stay together or sometimes co-parent was exhausting for many fans who knew that these two didn’t really have a fighting chance at forever.
Caelan seems to have moved on and found a new girl. Her name is Allycia, and the couple have been together since at least Christmas of last year, as that was the first time a photo of them together was posted on Instagram.
5Tyra Decided To Work Towards A College Degree
Tyra Boisseau made having a baby a family affair as she, her sister, and her cousin all found themselves parenting little girls at an early age. Tyra and her daughter’s father, Alex, broke up recently, but have nothing but love for one another.
4Emiley And Diego Are Surprisingly Amicable!
Well, viewers never thought that they would see the day that snarky, thoughtless, and rude Diego would man up and do some respectful parenting. During his time on the show, he wasn’t the greatest partner to Emiley.
It seems that the kid needed time to get things right, and after he and Emiley broke up, he turned over a new leaf. Diego graduated from high school, joined the armed forces, and is often seen on social media snapshots along with his ex and his adorable daughter.
3McKayla Has A New Business Venture
Her fan base is divided on her choice of employment. Some applaud her for doing what she has to do to care for her kids while others are not too keen on how she puts herself out there.
2Chloe Mendoza Moved On With Life, And Max Is Getting Healthy
Chloe put up with a lot from her ex, Max, but in the end, his baggage was just too much for her and her family. Little Ava’s parents are currently broken up, and Chloe attended college, so great for her!
Tylor and Laura looked to be the only couple who might make it into adulthood together. We thought they might be the new Cate and Tyler! They had two kids off the bat, got married, and are sadly now divorced.
Her recent social media updates have her as a single mama to two boys, and she called out her ex for taking another woman out on a date a mere five days after splitting from his wife. Since leaving the show, Tylor has joined the United States Navy as a rescue swimmer and prioritizes his physical health.
