In April this year, Rory Gibson, who made his final appearance on The Young and the Restless as Noah Newman two years ago, was touted to be moving across to General Hospital. Now that he’s been on the ABC show for a while, some fans are claiming he’s the best recast that ever happened on daytime TV.
Fans Sing Out In Favor Of Rory
GH fans grew quite excited about Rory possibly replacing Chad Duell as Michael Corinthos. Chad, they agreed, wasn’t bad as an actor but had opted to take a step back for personal reasons. The buzz peaked when Robert Adamson, who briefly played Michael Corinthos, posted and then deleted about being overlooked for the role of Michael.

Soon, rumors started that Rory Gibson would be the new Michael. Notably, fans didn’t have to wait long to discover that Rory was the one. By May 21, the news arrived that he was definitely on the ABC show. And, it didn’t take long for him to make a good impression on fans.
Where Did Fans Start Cheering For Rory?
There have been lots of recasts on GH over the years, and no disrespect to Chris McKenna as Jack Brennan, but fans think Rory Gibson is the best in a long time. Emma Drake and Spencer Cassadine are two others that spring to mind immediately. But Rory’s on a role of popularity that stands out right now.
The outpouring of love, admiration, and pure joy about the recast arrived on Instagram on Friday. It happened when Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) announced that Rory would be the next guest on his State of Mind podcast. If you don’t know, it airs on YouTube on Sundays.
In his caption, Maurice wrote, “There’s not much to say I have a feeling you’re gonna watch @mbstateofmind on SUNDAY 10am livechat @rory_gibson.” Actually, it could be the interview that takes Maurice to 200K subscribers as the reaction was amazing.
The Best Recast?
In the discussion area, floods of comments arrived, and clearly, Rory is already a fan favorite on the show. More than one person claimed that he’s the best recast ever. In fact, one fan said, “Amen to one of the best recastings. I fast-forward through a lot of GH recasts (which lately is most of the show).”
